Nokia Conversation
Nokia Conversation groups all your text messages into conversational threads. This may not sound like much but you’d be surprised at how useful this can be.
Think Gmail and how it handles your e-mail as opposed to Yahoo! or Outlook, in fact the whole idea of threading messages is in my view the reason why Blackberry’s are so popular.
Conversation is one of those apps that you use then wonder how you survived before you got it. If you’re serious about SMS, You simply MUST get it.
It was developed and built in Nokia’s Beta labs. It did so well that it’s now a standard feature on all new Nokia phones!

Nimbuzz
IM is becoming increasingly important in business (and personal) communication. A good chat client is a must-have, especially on a phone with a full QWERTY keypad.
My personal preference is Nimbuzz. It is a Symbian app (.sis) and it integrates with the phone better than eBuddy, a Java app, especially when it comes to notifications.
In addition to your usual Google, Yahoo Messenger, MSN and Facebook chat, Nimbuzz has support for VoIP calls via Google Talk as well as its own proprietary service, “NimbuzzOut” .
Until recently it had support for Skype as well, then one day Skype went rogue and killed third party client support, you can however install Skype’s client here.

WhatsApp is the new kid on the block, it’s a cross platform messaging client with a fantastic user interface, it allows BBM style Instant Messaging between iOS (iPhone/iPad), Nokia S60/S^3, Blackberry and Android devices.
Pretty cool, but there’s a catch, its only free for a year, after that you’ll have to pay $1.99/= per year to use the service, still, it’s a great app and I think it’s worth trying out, very few apps that are this good have a 1 year trial period.
